Romulea is back, spring is coming up
Also this year we have been able to see a large Romulea rollii’s flowering on the dunes of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area. The presence of the sea saffron, plant symbol of the MPA, undoubtedly shows a vegetal biodiversity to protect together with the valuable dune habitats that are slowly disappearing from the Italian coasts. Trivia multilirata, the jewel of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area
After the last wintry coastal storms, on the shore of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area, especially in Zone B (general reserve), several species of molluscs and some sea stars beached. Thousands of shells of different size covered the shore, and many sea birds, such as gulls, benefited of such a tasty and well-served food. Continue reading
Welcome back Rollii’s sand crocus
In this early spring, after several years of fruitless research, the Rollii’s sand crocus (Romulea rollii, Parl.), the plant symbol of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area, reappeared like magic.
