Atri-Cerrano: result and prospects of the submission to UNESCO

The ambitious project of the submission for the inclusion of the Atri-Cerrano site on the UNESCO World Heritage List had a setback in the negative response to the procedure by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
The difficulty in having a positive reply to this kind of initiative was known from the beginning. Unfortunately, the awareness of the necessary work for pursuing it competitively was not enough. However this result cannot be considered a complete defeat. Continue reading

In reference to the submission for the inclusion of the Atri-Cerrano site on the UNESCO World Heritage List, we can say that the historic centre of Atri is identified as one of three “main areas” (A), together with the Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri (B) and the Tower of Cerrano Marine Protected Area (C) (to this end, you can see the previous post “Submission to UNESCO for the Atri-Cerrano site”). The initiative of a submission for the inclusion of the Atri-Cerrano site on the UNESCO World Heritage List is one of most ambitious projects which can contribute to the idea of shared protection and promotion of the large hilly-coastal-marine territory between the Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri and the Tower of Cerrano Marine Protected Area.
