After the last wintry coastal storms, on the shore of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area, especially in Zone B (general reserve), several species of molluscs and some sea stars beached. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.
Today, 22 May, we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity. Established by the UN in 2000 to celebrate the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity, this Day is an opportunity to think about the impact of man on the other living species.
