Le Terre del Cerrano (Lands of Cerrano) maintain a relatively high level of naturalness, despite being inhabited by humans since ancient times. The beauty of the landscape, for the most part survived to the urban sprawl since postwar on, coincides with the presence of a biodiversity of absolute importance for Abruzzo coast and hills. Its natural value is proved by the presence of two protected areas: the Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri and the Tower of Cerrano Marine Protected Area. In addition to these, there are the Oasis of the Vomano Mouth and Park Filiani, a precious work of environmental engineering with numerous plant species and a high degree of naturalness. In Terre del Cerrano there are the following habitats:
1 – Marine environment (Tower of Cerrano MPA, unprotected sea opposite the municipalities of Silvi and Pineto)
2 – Dune (Tower of Cerrano MPA)
3 – Wetlands (Tower of Cerrano MPA, Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri, Oasis of the Vomano Mouth)
4 – Coastal Mediterranean maquis (Tower of Cerrano MPA, Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri, Park Filiani)
5 – Hill (Regional Reserve Badlands of Atri, Park Filiani).
