Romulea is back, spring is coming up
Also this year we have been able to see a large Romulea rollii’s flowering on the dunes of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area. The presence of the sea saffron, plant symbol of the MPA, undoubtedly shows a vegetal biodiversity to protect together with the valuable dune habitats that are slowly disappearing from the Italian coasts. 21 March – International Day of Forests
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.
Welcome back Rollii’s sand crocus
In this early spring, after several years of fruitless research, the Rollii’s sand crocus (Romulea rollii, Parl.), the plant symbol of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area, reappeared like magic.
